... is scheduled
as the guest speaker for the 190th meeting of the Karl Hess Club, to convene
on April 19, 2010. [7th Samuel Edward Konkin III Memorial Lecture]
Bob Weber
on "Four Heroes of Liberty: William Hazlitt, H.L. Mencken, Beethoven, and
Goya"
Bob believes that "While none of the
four are noted mainly for their political thought, all four were, in their
way, heroes of liberty. I will compare and contrast Hazlitt and Mencken -- known mostly as essayists, and literary and social critics who lived
a century apart -- and Beethoven and Goya,
two early 19th century contemporaries who revolutionized music and painting,
respectively, and expressed their love of liberty through their art."
